In frequent demand as a soloist, Mr. Strand has performed the Vaughan-Williams Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra with both the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the DekaIb Symphony Orchestra. He has also appeared as soloist playing the Gregson Tuba Concerto with the West Georgia College Festival Band, DeKaIb Wind Ensemble, and with the Winder-Barrow High School Symphonic Band at the University of South Carolina School of Music Conductors' Symposium. Mr. Strand has presented recitals and master classes throughout the country from Seattle to Richmond, including recitals at Indiana University and Northwestern University, and down the east coast to Winter Park, Florida. Also an active chamber musician, Mr. Strand performs regularly with the Peachtree Brass Quintet, giving over 100 in-school concerts each year. He tours nationwide with the Atlanta Brassworks and in his spare time had the opportunity to record for Bruce Springsteen's latest album "Devils and Dust" which was ranked #1 on the charts upon its release. In addition to maintaining a full studio of private tuba students, Mr. Strand serves on the music faculty of Brenau University.
Don enjoys presenting solo recital programs and appearing as soloist with ensembles of all levels.
